XRAY
ITS has acquired the ability to do x-ray inspections on parts with many different materials and shapes.
Wheels:
We can inspect wheels for porosity created in the casting process. As you can see in the picture below the porosity is significant in this wheel spoke. There is no visible indication of this condition from the exterior of the spoke but can be clearly shown with the use of Xray
Tires:
Tire x-ray inspections are very useful for understanding where the steel wires are inside of the rubber. A problem that is not visible at all from the outside of the tire can be clearly seen from x-ray.
In this picture an overlap of the bead wire bundle is shown, no issues are evident. This picture is taken with the tire intact, so all of the steel is still buried inside of rubber and not able to be looked at without x-ray.
